Where can I find freeware that can copy DVDs into one file?

I tried using DVDFab to create a back-up of one of my DVDs recently, but it separates the film into different files. I know there must be a freeware programme somewhere that doesn’t do that, but I don’t want to have to trawl through loads of programmes to find one. So I was wondering, can anyone here recommend a DVD copying programme that doesn’t split a film into parts?

I recently had a very nasty virus on my computer and had to reformat. Now Windows updater is telling me there are about 60 updates I need. I have no idea which ones I genuinely need, so I haven’t installed any of them. Also, I am worried that this is how the virus got into my computer in the first place. Can malware pose as a Windows update?

Is there some freeware or shareware that can convert a scanned document into WORD?

I just got a scanner, and it came with basic software. The manual said I could convert OCD files into Word but I’d have to pay another $100 for special software to do so. Is there a way to do it with some freeware, shareware, or just manipulating Windows office?

I’m trying to split up a video into different scenes for editing on my own. Does anyone know of a good freeware program that would enable me to do this easily? Kind of lay it out into a timeline then save it so I can add effects and transitions to it? I’m using Nero 6 to do add the effects and save the video, but their cut feature isn’t that useful.
